Built from Experience. Driven by Development.

My career in law enforcement eventually led me from police officer, to Field Training Officer, to instructor at Iowa's state law enforcement academy. Along the way, I developed a passion for training and developing people and saw firsthand how important it was to prepare them for the decisions, challenges, and uncertainty they would face.

At the academy, I also saw a problem that kept coming up: we didn't have a good system for truly tracking development across all aspects of the job.

We went from paper and individual forms, to spreadsheets and Google Forms, to different software platforms. Each helped solve part of the problem, but none brought everything together. Information was scattered, progress was difficult to see, and instructors spent too much time managing information instead of using it to develop recruits.

I knew there had to be a better way. I just couldn’t find one.

So I started building one myself. Using AI and my experience in recruit development, I created a system designed to bring performance, progress, and development into one place. We put it into use at our state academy and proved that it worked. It created meaningful change and allowed us to better develop, prepare, and inform all stakeholders in the recruits progress. With the most important being the recruit themselves.

That was when I realized this could be bigger than one academy. I wanted to take what we had built and help other academies better develop their recruits.

To take that next step, I was introduced through a mutual connection to Jordan Cleigh, a software engineer who happened to attend my church. Jordan brought the technical expertise to help further develop the system and turn the foundation I had built into something that could serve organizations well beyond where it started. That partnership helped bring PULSE Standard to life.

While PULSE Standard was born from a need in law enforcement, the idea reaches much further. The same fundamental need exists anywhere people are responsible for developing others: clear expectations, meaningful feedback, measurable progress, and a better understanding of where someone stands and where they need to grow.

I believe in doing things with purpose and passion. This isn’t a platform to simply check a box and house certificates, but to make actual change and progress for the better.

Our goal is simple: help organizations develop the best people for the job.

Jordan Cleigh

Founding Engineer

Growing up, Jordan often gravitated towards computers and technology, teaching himself web development and graphic design. During his freshman year of high school, he started taking computer programming classes at Western Iowa Tech Community College and later received his Computer Science degree from Hamilton College in Des Moines. Shaped by a variety of roles throughout his career, from customer service to technical lead to Staff-level engineer, he has learned what it takes to create and maintain software that works at any scale.

Jordan is married and has two daughters. In addition to spending time with the family, he is a musician and serves his local church by overseeing the technology team.
